Post-Halloween pumpkins
Totally un-jewellery-related, this post.
Yesterday, a trip to the local grocery store yielded some post-Halloween pumpkins. Among them, looking lost, was one solitary teeny pumpkin, called a munchkin pumpkin. It’s about 3″ wide. So I bought it, and today, I carved it.

Rawr!

RAWR!

What? I'm totally not scary with the light on. *waves*

SNEEEEAK PREVIEW!
Been promising one for a while, so here’s pics of some upcoming necklaces (new rings coming later this week):

Going for a statement necklace – it’s a pansy! I had to rack my brains to remember what that flower was called, I was convinced it was an iris …

A red version of my green Seeds of Love Necklace available on Etsy. Very similar Apple rings have been designed and are on their way this week (er, free time permitting)!

Adventures in Polypropylene …
I thought I’d experiment with some polyprop I’ve had lying around for ages. I decided to try a design I had previously cut from white silicon sheeting (kinda like rubber), which had looked great, but was damn near impossible to clean – scorch marks from the laser. Just in time for Halloween, the design was a series of interlinked spiderwebs, intended to be made into a bracelet. Of course, I needed a flexible material to bend around the wrist, so polyprop should work.
Unfortunately, it melted a little during lasering, but while I think this makes it inappropriate as a finished product, it does make it look like a dusty, grimy spiderwebs, which I think is pretty neat. So back to the drawing board, but for your eyes only, here is the prototype:

Octopenis!
Sorry for the appalling lack of posts – been alternately busy at the day job, making jewellery, working on my upcoming website, or tweeting (feel free to follow me on http://twitter.com/cupofsea).
I thought I would return with an amusing behind-the-scenes glimpse into the product development process. One of my rings / knuckledusters, called The Kraken, is a silhouette of a slightly sinister octopus:
He started life with a very different-shaped head. It was only after laser cutting, when I saw the cut-out shape left behind on the sheet of acrylic, that I noticed my how much my little kraken bore a suspicious resemblance to a part of the male anatomy:

Octopenis rises from the depths ... of your underwear ...
Needless to say, I went back to the drawing board. The Kraken is now rated G for all audiences.

Mention: Etsy Treasury – Heart in Motion Necklace
Fascinating fascinator-maker StellaPearl very kindly included my Heart in Motion necklace in her ‘Etsy in England‘ treasury, which hints at Victoriana with a pinch of Ascot. Thanks Stella!
